Spring-Ish

It’s a lovely day! It’s sunny and warm. How fitting to commemorate the last day of January. Doesn’t it feel like January has lasted forever?

Since it was so beautiful out, I chose a cold drink over my favourite latte at Starbucks.

Venti Iced Americano with 2 pumps SF Vanilla & a splash of NF Milk.

It lasted the duration of my 1.5 hour Italian class and had me so high on caffeine and therefore life.

I came home & played with the puppies outside.

And had a weird snack.

New (although they used to make it yeaaaaaars ago then it was discontinued) Weight Watchers cinnamon raisin bread with egg whites & some real CanadianEh maple syrup.

The verdict?

Not really sure why I thought a sweet egg sandwich would be alright. I prefer my bagel+egg+ketchup.

In other excitingbutnotreally news, they have new candles out at Bath & Body Works! The colours are so vibrant and springy and the scents are tropically and florally and happy :D I bought two that match my room. They smell fantastic, which is a bonus because I probably would have bought them anyway just based on the colour.

Glee tonight!!!!! FINALLY. Although I’m not particularly excited for this Michael Jackson tribute episode. I love MJ, but they’ve pretty much done all my favourite songs by him already (Thriller, Man in the Mirror).

Make today beautiful!

There’s a Shark in my House

Duuun Duunn ..

Duunn Dunnn…

Dun dun dun dun dun DUN!

Remote controlled FLYING shark in my house. It’s normal.

I kind of wish we had a remote controlled dinosaur so I could just play the Jaws theme song and the Jurassic Park theme song over and over again. My house would be awesome.

Just a little note: If you’re not a fan of haul-style posts, don’t read on. I like haul-style posts because I get shopping inspiration from them. I understand they can come across as showy, and that’s not my intention.

It’s been a while! And it’s 2012 now, so I figured I’d list some things that I have become attached to (or stayed attached to) for the new year. I’m also excited to start some new projects! I want to go into full-out DIY mode and design/build some stuff, hopefully successfully.

Here’s what I’m loving (mostly from Christmas)… Sweet brewed coffee heavens, I am in love with this machine (although not the first machine I fell in love with, *cough* Mac). I need a place to store all my K-Cups (many of them dark/milk hot chocolate — obsessed), but I also bought a reusable K-Cup to save waste and to be able to make precious Dunkin’ Donuts vanilla coffee, mmm.

My next 2012 love is a perfume… It’s sweet, light and a bit citrus-y. The Express perfume is honestly the best perfume I’ve smelled in a while, and I normally shy away from clothing store perfumes, but maybe that’s a psychological thing since I pass out when I pass by an Abercrombie store.

In other scent-related things… The Scentsy is perfect for me because I am a candle addict. I have to admit that the Bath & Body Works candles smell amazing, but when I burn them for too long, the scent becomes sickly-sweet and causes me to have a headache. I can leave the Scentsy on all day because it’s just a light bulb that warms up the wax and it always smells fresh.

Tech-related love … This is my new iPhone case from Cellairis. It’s from the Elle & Blair collection (they’re beauty gurus on YouTube) and I love it because it’s nautical and reminds me of summer. It fits my 4S perfectly. I needed a new case because — I wasn’t aware of this — but the 4S mute switch is slightly lower than the 4, rendering my other cases ill-fitting #firstworldproblems. This one does the job! And food related … Skinny Cow ice cream will always be my first love, but the Weight Watchers brand has mint chocolate cups and mint chocolate ice cream is my favourite. The ice cream sandwich is chocolate peanut butter and this is my first time trying it. It’s ridiculous.

I tweeted Skinny Cow, since I’m probably one of their number one customers ;) and asked if 2012 could bring a new Skinny Cow cup, preferably mint chocolate brownie. This makes me “eeeeeeee” :D

I’m also addicted to vegetable bowls, covered in pasta sauce and topped with baked chicken breast. I’ll spare you from a picture of it.

And lastly, media wise, I’m loving:

This song: We are Young – Fun

This TV show: The Big Bang Theory. Adam and I just started from season 1 and it’s hilarious!

What are some new things you’re loving for 2012?

Rough

I’m not going to lie — this week has been rough. I’ve been ridiculously sleep deprived, moody, sluggish and absent-minded. I tried 4ish recipes, all of which failed miserably. I hope I can at least get one down this weekend to share with you guys, because the idea is so great in my head and yet so shitty in its actual form.

My eyes are burning right now from being tired.

Last night, I had to fill in for our PR girl and speak in front of an audience at the college, and I failed miserably at that. Normally, I’m a good public speaker but only if I have a speech memorized. This was just a few points to talk about, and I was stupid nervous. I left pretty much drenched in sweat.

Much wine drinking and TV catching up on occurred last night. I absolutely love Vampire Diaries. Does anyone else love that show?

I need to get back on track with everything in life, especially sleep. I figure once that’s regular again, everything else will pleasantly fall into place. I need to learn how to silence my internal alarm clock first.

Lunch was some homemade chicken vegetable soup (courtesy of Dad) and a piece of cheese toast. Soup and cheese toast is my ultimate comfort food.

In exciting news, tonight I’m going to another concert! I’m going to see Toby Keith and Eric Church for the first time, both of which I’m ridiculously excited about. I need to do something to wake my ass up, but I can’t go outside because it’s raining and miserable (of course!).

Are you a good public speaker?

What’s your favourite genre of music/artist?

Did you/do you play The Sims? I have an intense desire to play The Sims 2 right about now. Unfortunately, everything is uninstalled and my 40,000+ custom content downloads have been wiped from my parent’s PC =(

Lemme Out!

This is not the cute and romantic fall I pictured.

Granted, it’s only been 3 days. But it has been 3 days of rainy, cold and miserable weather.

By 5 PM, I was going crazy so I decided to just get out of the house and ignore the impending rain. I went for a 2 hour rollerblade and it felt great. It really helped to clear my head.

But let’s rewind, shall we?

Today started out with an old old old favourite — one of the first breakfasts I ever posted on the blog!

Behold: the almond butter + jam chia seed banana bagelwich (longest breakfast name ever!!!) Today was also the first day of school! I haven’t been to the University since last December, right before I took the semester off to intern in Chicago (best decision ever) and now it just feels a little strange being back. Today’s class was only 1/2 hour long (gettin’ my money’s worth).

But anyways, tonight I’m curling up with a blanket, a fruit salad (grapes, brown pear, mango and raspberries) and watching old episodes of Degrassi.

This weekend will be amazing though, regardless of weather. I am going to the wedding of 2 really good friends and then Sunday will be filled with football (GO LIONS!!) =)
